You've entered the world of Fikus: hip, laid-back, original, grooving
jazz fusion.
Who is Fikus?
With well over a 100 years of combined music experience among
its band members, Boston-based Fikus (pronounced FIKE'-us)
forges its own slippery groove, bridging jazz, funk
and post-bop. Named after a Scottish term meaning 'agitated',
'fidgety' and 'troublesome', the group plays an itchy mix of groove-laden
original compositions as well as covers by John Scofield, the
Meters, Herbie Hancock and others.
Relying mostly on instrumental repertoire, Fikus captivates
the audience with its own musical language. The group can be
seen gigging regularly around the Boston area sometimes dipping
its feet into Maine and New Hampshire frequenting such respected
venues as The Middle East in Cambridge, MA and The Galley Hatch
Pelican Club in Hampton, NH.
Notice
Unfortunately, Fikus closed up shop in Boston in
mid-2005 due to guitarist Ram Sudama moving to Vancouver Island in
British Columbia. We've left this web site operational for our former
fans and anyone else who might be interested in our unique brand of
music.
